Eastern Conference Power Rankings - Position 4 - TIEBREAKER

Too close to call between the Rangers and Lightning.

Stugots 07-19-2011 03:20 PM

Nyr!

Oh Thats Nashty 07-19-2011 03:32 PM

Stamkos...

twistedwrister17 07-19-2011 03:36 PM

I would really like to pick the Rangers but I can't. When we played them head to head last year we had all sorts of problems. I do think it's pretty close between the two teams though.

KingWantsCup 07-19-2011 03:43 PM

LGR! Lol really though I think nyr is a more balanced team.

RichardsRngrs 07-19-2011 04:15 PM

I switched my Vote to the Rangers because of Lundquist

mrjimmyg89 07-19-2011 04:25 PM

Has to be the Lightning.

They went to the ECF, more than any from the group of 4-9 can say in the east. They are also returning the majority of that team, as well as Stamkos + MSL > Gaborik and Richards right now.

BlueshirtBlitz 07-19-2011 04:26 PM

I have to say, I think we're the better team when MSL retires. That is including Stamkos.

But with MSL I don't know if I'd be comfortable facing them in a 7 game series.

Hard choice.

TB has atrocious goaltending. Lundqvist tips this poll.

Not sold on Tampa's goaltending. Their D is less than ideal, too.

eco's bones 07-19-2011 04:55 PM

I like our team better.

First game: Tampa won 5-3, they jumped out to a 5-0 lead, we scored 3 goals in the 3rd to make it interesting.

Second game: Tampa wins in a shootout.

Third game: Tampa wins in Overtime.

Fourth game: Tampa wins 2-1.

2 overtime/shootout wins, 1 1 goal win, and 1 2 goal win.

All sorts of problems? We played em very even, despite being absolutely destroyed by injuries and getting NOTHING from Chris Drury, and getting about half of what we should get from Gaborik (he only had a goal and an assist in the 4 games).

Rangers w/ Brad Richards & Healthy > Tampa Bay Lightning. Theyve got a 95 year old goalie in net and their D doesnt impress me whatsoever.

New York RKY 07-19-2011 05:27 PM

I think I have to go with TB on this one.

First of all we are basing this on the assumption that everything clicks with the Rangers (which is still questionable), meanwhile it already has clicked for TB.

They played well against us last year and we looked overmatched at certain points of the games.

Their offense is simply incredible and downright overpowering at times.

I still am not sold on TB's goaltending either but for now since I am still uncertain about how everything will click with the Rangers as of this moment I will go with TB. That could change however if the Rangers play up to the potential we think they can.

Blueshirt13 07-19-2011 06:08 PM

TB... just too much firepower still. Will feel better when the kids on D have matured a little more (and praying they don't have sophomore slumps)

Radek27 07-19-2011 07:32 PM

Sticking with my original vote of TB.

Rangers next round for me.

mike14 07-19-2011 07:40 PM

Went with Tampa, I think the Rangers young guys need another season in them. Would vote differently in 12 months time (all other things being equal)

h0ckeyman 07-19-2011 08:17 PM

Rangers. TBL has better top end scoring, but the Rangers FWD group is deeper. Lundy tips the scale for NYR.

Machinehead 07-19-2011 09:07 PM

Tampa = overrated.

Muh 07-19-2011 10:20 PM

I didn't want to pick NYR here, I picked Buffalo in initial poll. But I dont see TB being better then us this year. So I picked NYR.

HockeyBasedNYC 07-19-2011 10:25 PM

TB took the Cup champions to 7 games. A goal from going to the finals. Going TB.

broadwayblue 07-19-2011 10:27 PM

Personally I think the Flyers take the 4th spot (assuming Pronger is healthy).

Kershaw 07-19-2011 11:01 PM

Well these are power rankings and in the regular season, Tampa ALWAYS has sub-par goaltending and defense. Roloson, Lecavalier and Brewer in the playoffs always step up their game and that makes them a strong contender going into the playoffs.

johnnydollaz89* 07-19-2011 11:22 PM

still the NYR here
