Very pleased to tell you all that we have signed Vinnie Prospal. He is a top 6 forward to help replace Kristian Huselius.

Woo! I won the guessing game on the poll page!

...

So... What'd I win?
Happy with signing if he gets it done like we are hoping

1.75m isn't bad either

You're going to love Prospal.

Energetic guy with great hands/passing skills. Awesome leader. Even better tan and goal celebrations. Horrendous skater, though.

Thank you. I was just coming on to ask how he played last year. I am happy with this signing.

ClevelandJacketFan 07-23-2011 12:19 PM

That'll do, Scott, that'll do.

Fro 07-23-2011 12:20 PM

as long as he has recovered from his knee injury this would be a good deal...bordering on great if he ends up with 50 pts

blahblah 07-23-2011 12:24 PM

Sweet. That's taken care of. Bonus when juice comes back, we'll have both. Accidental depth.

Oilerdiehard 07-23-2011 12:25 PM

Solid work Mr. Howson.

TSA0402 07-23-2011 12:26 PM

Good signing, not the guy I wanted but Howson did good on this one. Quite a few big names coming to CBJ this offseason.

Fro 07-23-2011 12:26 PM

omg....epic! this guy will quickly endear himself to this board with interviews like this

Thanks for the info. All things being equal, I'd prefer the better skater, but Vinny fits the bill everywhere else.

Edit: Didn't know he wore #20. Should've been a tip-off.

I wanted JWilly. But this is cool too. Welcome to the club Prospal!

:shakehead I came in here to post that. There goes my one time of being clever.

Great pickup. He distributes the puck very well, especially on the PP. I'm not sure how well he'll hold up physically, but if he does, you can expect 50 points and change.

Samkow 07-23-2011 12:37 PM

Glad to see Howson sticking with tradition and maintaining the minimum quota of Czechs. :sarcasm:

(Seriously, I'd be shocked if we didn't dress the most Czech's on our roster over the last decade. Anybody care to look this up? This seems like a job for Sprague.)

Oh yeah, Howson>>>>>Portzline at scooping things that Howson does.

nyr2k2 07-23-2011 12:38 PM

Vinny was only in New York for 2 seasons, but we all loved him. Great teammate, and when healthy, a great player.

He came back from his knee surgery and was frequently our best forward down the stretch. Finished strong as well, with 4G-2A-6P in his final five regular season games.

I wish Vinny luck!

BlueshirtBlitz 07-23-2011 12:43 PM

If he can play on his knee for a full season this should be a fantastic pick up for you guys.

He's quickly becoming my preferred source on rumors and signings...

Jaxs 07-23-2011 01:05 PM

Good deal. That puts me at ease as far as replacing Huselius' numbers.

Yeah, that's the one worry...if his knee holds up. Rumor was the Rangers were at least interested in bringing him back but were unsure about the status of his knee. But that also doesn't mean he won't be OK.

He can probably get 50 points playing with Nash or Carter if he's healthy all year, so good signing. Can play LW or center, slow skater but works hard overall. Not exactly a natural scorer or playmaker but does a little bit of both. Nice guy to have on the team

TSA0402 07-23-2011 01:20 PM

I'm also wondering if Prospal - Carter - Nash is a possibility now.
