Brenden Dillon

How many of you guys think he could see significant amount of time for re big boys this season? Honestly, after watching alot of the development camp videos I feel he will end the season playing for the stars. I could be very wrong about him, but just watching him play I see something special. I almost feel like he's going to be our d version of Benn.

glovesave_35 07-23-2011 09:48 PM

I don't know about the D version of Benn but I think he will finish the season in Dallas.

Cin 07-23-2011 11:02 PM

He's going to make Robidas expendable at the deadline.

God I hope so

glovesave_35 07-24-2011 12:31 AM

...he of the NTC variety?

Hull Fan 07-24-2011 01:03 AM

Anyone have a feeling that if Grossman doesn't sign an extension by the deadline he'll be dealt as well? Dallas has been burned by not trading a few guys when they should and if a guy like Dillon and Larsen are ready then moving Robidas and Grossman for top forward help could make a huge difference in the future.

ReverendAlBundy 07-24-2011 01:09 AM

Eh, I really don't like the idea of movIng grossman. As far as I'm concerned hes our best defensive d-man by miles and I feel like losing him would really hurt.

It's limited, no?

MetalGodAOD 07-24-2011 02:51 AM

I have a feeling Grossman will re-sign midseason.

if he hasnt signed and the stars arent firmly in the playoffs they should trade him.

Hull Fan 07-25-2011 04:24 PM

don't want to trade grossman per-say but he's going to be a ufa and dallas can't afford to let another 1st round pick plus a prospect go on the off chance that the ownership situation finally gets settled and he signs next summer. dallas has to make a pitch and if nik agrees, great, but if not he has to be dealt.

Bored so I was browsing old threads, thought now would be a good time to bump this post for lols.

Hows he looked so far? Haven't seen many Texas games at all this season.

Shady12 02-18-2012 12:05 PM

I watched part of the game last night on FSSW+. I DVR'd it and kind of skipped around but from what I saw I was impressed. Has size, seemed very mobile..Looked good. Benn looked really good. Fraser..damn that guy is a puck magnet and can really shoot the thing. Reminded me of Neal.

So what's causing all the problems in the team then - is it the system they're using?

From what I've heard, their coach is just awful. All offense, let the goalie hang out to dry. And the team just isn't good enough to consistently put up 3-5 goals a game.

He'll almost certainly be gone next year.

When they were in the hunt there was talk that texas would be playing the same system as dallas. Itd be nice to know what happened to that idea.

It is strange. I'm a firm believer that the same/similar system should be played at the AHL and NHL levels. It generally helps for young players to feel comfortable playing a role they're comfortable with.

ReverendAlBundy 04-07-2012 08:56 PM

Seeing how well hes playing tonight, I figure I could go ahead and bump this and make it the all purpose "Dillon better be on the opening roster next year" thread.

piqued 04-07-2012 09:08 PM

How he performs in training camp will mean just as much and probably more than this game. It's a good start toward making the team though.

Troy McClure 04-07-2012 09:13 PM

He's playing a very simple game and doing it well.

Hes obviously better than Pardy, he's less turnover/mistake prone than Robidas, he's faster and way more mobile than Souray while having a similair mean streak. I really don't see why he wouldnt make the team next year.

piqued 04-07-2012 09:34 PM

We don't know who is going to be acquired in the offseason.

But yeah, Dillon is probably better than all of those guys. I certainly don't want any of them back. If Dillon claims one of the empty spots they (hopefully) vacate in camp, great. He's certainly first in line currently as far as prospects go.

DaStars99 04-07-2012 09:35 PM

I though the played well tonight, I look forward to see what happens with him next year

LatvianTwist 04-07-2012 09:37 PM

Great game for him tonight. Definitely a good thing for him, but as piqued said, training camp will probably be more important.
