What do you guys think?

Last time I checked, these guys were still UFA's. I know the rangers are rebuilding, but these guys can help

J. Allison
V. Bure
A. Deadmarsh
J.F. Damphousse
T. Harvey
P. Sykora
M. Lindgren

Sykora is not UFA, but RFA.

Id take Val Bure just cause we need help at LW. Allison id take if he is cleared to play and 100% healthy. Another LW id take a stab at is McAmmond, Samuelsson and Rucinsky. They are some solid LW availabe. Sather should at least sign one of them.

I don't think that most of these players are worth a look.

Do you mean Vincent Damphousse? My opinion on him isn't super-high, but I would like to see the Rangers sign a 1st-line centre. I just wonder if Vinnie can still play that role.

Allison is a guy I love, and I have lots of time for Deadmarsh, too, but both players have HUGE injury question marks over their heads.

Peter Sykora could be very useful, if he plays like in NJ, not Anaheim (I think he has a less pronounced case of Hlavac-syndrome). Rucinsky would be more reliable. Is he really UFA?

Val Bure, I wouldn't touch.
Todd Harvey would be pointless thanks to Garth Murray.
Mats Lindgren, again, I don't see the point.

J. Allison - Proved to be more injury-prone than Lindros. No thanks!
V. Bure - One way, PP-specialist. Not the kind of guy who's going to set a great example for our young players.
A. Deadmarsh - See Allison comment above. Besides, I thought he was retiring.
J.F. Damphousse - I think we'd be better off getting a goalie who has a chance of supplanting Dunham (Weekes would be my pick) rather than bring in a pure backup.
T. Harvey - We've got enough Harvey-types in the system.
P. Sykora - Not a UFA but rather a guy with a big contract which Anaheim probably wants to get out from under.
M. Lindgren - Much like my thoughts on Harvey, we don't need to bring in this caliber of player until we've exhausted every option within our organization.

I'd definitely take a shot at V.Bure because he can produce and we could play him with balej. I'd sign rucinsky and allison to fill out the 1st line. Who knows maybe P.Bure will start working hard to get back since his brother would be now here.

J. Allison- lindros part 2
V. Bure- would be a great fit could get first line and second line duty on lw, only 28
A. Deadmarsh- no thanks
J.F. Damphousse- this the goalie or the left wing with mtl whats that kids name????
T. Harvey- already got garth murray and ortmeyer dont need him
P. Sykora- work great with jagr i wouldnt mind him either
M. Lindgren- nothing special 4th liner maybe 3rd liner

RangsDave 08-06-2004 02:37 PM

just for the record, some of you guys are mixing it up. I mean damphousse the winger for the canadiens, not the goalie

I wouldn't mind taking a chance at a few of them for a discount. P. Bure, V.Bure, Deadmarsh, Allison, Damphousse, and Sykora. If they doesn't pan we only lose money. If he does we can ship them to a contender at the deadline for picks and prospects.

u could look at it like that but, if these guys wind up being injured still and dont produce who will take them if no one signs them this year there isnt much interest in them i assume, its a risk hoping they can be moved for prospects if not we are stuck with injured vets making money that could go to youth. damphousse , v.bure and sykora only ones io wouldnt mind seeing nyr acquire form that list. all the others are goners let them sign elsehwere i dont see why nj dont take a shot on allison they are small at center

some of the guys are mixing it up because you wrote J.F instead of V. Damphousse

-Allison is a great hockey player; skillwise and talent to back it up.. but he is way too inconsistent and most likely to go down half way through the season.. I'd sign him but only if he's willing to take a pay cut and sign for around $1-3 million.
-Bure.. I would like it if the Rangers signed him.. He can still produce points and is also a left-winger; a position that we need so badly. He probably come cheap too.
- Deadmarsh. Same for Allison.
-Damphousse.. I don't know who this guy is. :dunno:
-Harvey.. We don't really need players like him on the team.. we already have players like Garth Murray, and Jason MacDonald (if he comes up..) to be "goons".
-Sykora.. He has skills and talent but he's just not the same Petr Sykora when he was traded(?) to Anaheim. I would love to get this guy, anyways! :yo:
-Lindgren.. same for Harvey.

Somebody who Sather should take consideration into signing should be Rucinsky. I thought he played well during his stint with the Rangers. Rucinsky + Holik + Jagr = Our #1 producing line. They all had chemistry with each other as the season went by. Also, Rucinsky would come cheap, I think. Maybe the highest he would get is $3 million.. something the Rangers can defitnetly afford.

CoolDude* 08-06-2004 03:52 PM

3 mil for Rucinsky??

first of all try an write a coherent post. secondly, isn't J.F. Damphousse a goalie? We're talking about UFA forwards, no?

that's what I said Vincent for???

ChrisKreider20 08-06-2004 05:05 PM

I have a gud feelin bout allison. This guy could guide Jagr to 100+ pnts. He has some injury problems but he isn't prone. He's just had a couple of accidents in the last 2 years. He'll b healthy.
Bure Nah.... Too one dimensional

Personally if I was GM i'd sign Kariya. He is not only a great leader, he can score, and give Jagr a line-mate.
Imagine
Kariya- Lundmark- Jagr

Those two may actually cause Lundmark to develop a semi-scoring touch.

I think you mean Pierre Dagenais.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php3?pid=29526

But I don't see anything anywhere that says he's a free agent, restricted or otherwise. JF Damphousse is a goalie in the Montreal system who also came from the Devils and who was not given a qualifying offer.

Levitate 08-06-2004 05:26 PM

someone mentioned jason mcdonald...he signed with another AHL team and is no longer part of the rangers org. i heard some bad things about him anyways and am not sad to see him go, he's a career AHLer

bure...bah, he'd be more hinderence than help, i wouldn't go with him

i'd love to take a chance on allison but the injury risk is too great, might as well re-sign lindros
