worst prospect pool in the NHL

who has the worst prospect pool in the NHL? Calgary? SJ? they hae tio be an option with all the big trades they have made over the years eventually the prosdpect pool will run dry. Philly? Where do they avs rank I know they have this years 2nd and 11th overall picks but they also dealt away a 1st and 2nd to the caps for Varlamov how much does that impact them?

who in your opinion has the worst prospect pool?

TheJuxtaposer 08-07-2011 12:55 AM

SJ AINEC.

Philadelphia has the worst before this year, after adding Schenn and Couturier, they should be much better. Calgary has tons of 3rd and 4th line prospects but no elite talent after giving up Erixon. Bartschi and Granlund should help now though.

Hertl Power 08-07-2011 02:05 AM

Sharks.

Fel 96 08-07-2011 02:05 AM

Granlund?

He's a Wild prospect...

Markus. Not sure why he's listed. Flames have Bartschi and then a bunch of crap.

Markus Granlund, though I wouldn't call him a great prospect.

Sasha Cares 08-07-2011 02:12 AM

Is SJ really that much worse than the Flames?

Eytinge 08-07-2011 02:19 AM

Flames have Bartschi, Brodie and then a bunch of meh guys. I'll go with them.

DJENTLEMAN 08-07-2011 02:20 AM

Flames.

Ha, got it.

Completely forgot about him.

I didn't know it was possible to have a worse system than Calgary's

We have a single maybe 1B starter prospect (Irving), one possible two way defenseman prospect (Brodie), a 6th/7th d-man prospect (Breen), Baertschi, and a bunch of mediocre low upside forwards.

Total garbage.

Ashasx 08-07-2011 02:27 AM

The Flames have about 4 guys we're a bit excited for. Bartschi, Reinhart, Howse, who we are hoping can someday become top 6 forwards (though the latter two will most likely be 3rd-4th liners), and Brodie, who we hope can become a top 4 defender. Maybe Leach as well.

Make what you will of that. It's probably around the bottom, but it's better than it's been since the lockout.

Ville82 08-07-2011 02:32 AM

Flames they have nothing but Iginla now and they got no future.

Sharks are extremely weak at both wings and only have a couple centers with 2nd line potential. Our best forward prospects are Viedensky, the pirate Sgarbossa, and Wingles. We have a few guys that are more developed but they only have third line potential at best. We also have Nieto but he still has some way to go.

Our D prospects aren't that bad but we don't have any guys that will be top line guys. Braun, Deherty, Abeltshauser, and Petrecki are the notable ones and will probably have nhl futures.

On goalie we are strong with good prospects. Stalock may be injured for the year though which hurts a bit. Sateri may be better and will be playing his first year in NA this season. Also having JP Anderson.

Overall though we have no bluechip prospects and a lot of guys that aren't close to the nhl yet.

Edit. Forgot Neito.

If Courturier breaks camp with the Flyers (which I doubt, but it wouldn't be impossible), then Philadelphia jumps back in the race. They have a three-man prospect pool of Schenn, Cooter, and Gustafsson. Everyone else is a fringe player at best.

bottomofthefoodchain 08-07-2011 02:54 AM

Penguins.

matCH penalty 08-07-2011 03:17 AM

Montreal's is pretty awful, and it's just going to get worse in January when Gauthier trades our 1st and 3rd, and Tinordi for a rental defenceman after Markov spontaneously combusts. :sarcasm:

VinnyC 08-07-2011 03:22 AM

Vancouver's isn't looking too good. We do have a great goalie prospect on Lack (also Schneids already on the nHL) and a pretty deep blue line pool but up front we don't have much outside Hodgson/Rodin/Jensen (ugh, Schroeder too)

Plus we don't seem to have any top pairing potential and out of the forwards who do have potential, they're either Top 6 or bust.

I gotta admit that was funny.

Absolutely, The Sharks easily have the worst prospect pool.

I would also give Calgary an edge over Vancouver as well.

Kane One 08-07-2011 03:38 AM

I would say the Flames.

SJ maybe but not Vancouver simply because they usually keep their picks and Calgary likes to trade them,
