NYR / MIN proposal

Minnesota: Marian Gaborik
NYR: Josef Balej + 2nd round pick in 2005

Fair?

in the hall 08-09-2004 02:37 PM

not fair for minnesota

Balej is a very good prospect and main asset to acquire however he and a second is not going to get it done, Minny needs another duplicate of Balej imo or something slightly lesser then him with that second

It took Gaborik a while to get a clue last year but he was explosive at the end of the year. I remember he destroyed us which is nothing new.

gkrangers 08-09-2004 03:00 PM

Minny would be crazy to make that trade.

Bacchus 08-09-2004 03:12 PM

Where do I have to sign?

What you think?? We can use some NHL ready LW, and we wont have to worry bout Poti passing to the other team. I wonder how long he would last under Lemaire, maybe 2 mins. :lol :joker:

If I'm Minny, I'd die laughing.

Fair for us but, Minnesota would never make that trade.

Maybe something like this:

NYR:

Jozef Balej + Petr Prucha + 2nd round pick in 2005

MINN:

Marian Gaborik + 4th round pick in 2005

Are you people insane?

Tytuin, Balej, 1st in 2005

for

Gaborik.

THAT is fair.

Yeah. That's definitely a little more reasonable. Gaborik will be dominant in this league for years to come, and he is the centerpiece of the Minnesota organization. Is he supposed to be on the block anyway? I cant see him being traded period.

Even that is selling Minny short. How old is Gaborik? How many years of dominant hockey does he have left? What have Tyutin, Balej and that 1st rounder proven? Throw Blackburn in there and you might have deal.

Probably, yeah.

Balej20* 08-09-2004 04:44 PM

Why would Minnesotta trade Gaborik for anything, anyway? He is their center piece player, their corner stone for years to come. Hes already had multiple 30 goal season, he's already a proven YOUNG star. Why trade him for anything?

and here come the amatuer gm's :shakehead
I'd LOVE to see a gm today make a trade that includes a probably top first round pick, probably top being irrelevant, a legitament top 4 defenseman with potential to be better at such a young age, and a solid above average prospect such as Balej for a stud youngster

yes the original proposed offer was ridiculous but so was this one

Don't like it, 'cause I don't like all three players mentioned. ;)

Lemaire made half of a player out of Daigle - I wonder what he could do with Poti? Someone who plays like a NHL defender?!?

I doubt even Lemaire can make Poti play defense and actually hit. Poti is too soft for a guy 6'3, they are alot of guys smaller who play alot harder.

Edge 08-09-2004 08:15 PM

Daigle also tailed off a lot as the season went one {as has been the case all his career}.

And love him or hate him, Daigle has elite level talent. If he puts in even half an effort he could stay in the NHL {our generations version of Sylvain Turgeon}.

I know and I doubt it as well. But I still wonder...

Look, how many teams tried to make a player out of Daigle before...
