Next great Swedish defenseman?

There is a large number of promising young Swedish defenseman who all seem to have the potential to be a norris candidate one day. But which prospect will be the best?

Ekman-Larsson
Erixon
Rundblad
Karlsson
Larsson
Hedman

Are some names to consider, among others. As a Devils fan I want to say Larsson but I think Karlsson will end up being the best offensive dman and Hedman the best all around.

Brodin, book it.

Agree. But Larsson and Hedman are very close imo in terms of skill, Hedman just happens to be bigger.

I've seen them all developing, Brodin just has something special compared to other young swedish defensemen. Hes amongst the best. I don't think many swede will think that i'm crazy.

Darrelle Lundqvist 08-14-2011 02:02 PM

Karlsson
Hedman
Larsson
Erixon
OEL
Rundblad

Carl Gunnarsson or Tom Nilsson.

vico555 08-14-2011 02:12 PM

Magnus Nygren. The bigest steal of the draft no 113 by Montreal.
Book it

His Beardliness 08-14-2011 02:15 PM

Mattias Ekholm is my pick. He was great for Brynäs and the national team last year. Often overlooked though for no apparent reason.

ChildrenOfBodom 08-14-2011 02:21 PM

karlsson
rundblad

all the other

Phion Keneuf 08-14-2011 02:23 PM

Carl Gunnarson (watch)
Mattias Ekholm

Watching Victor Hedman for the past 2 years he is progressing nicely. It took him a little while to figure out the riggers of a full nhl season but these past playoffs he really took a huge step forward. The guy has incredible hockey sense and he started to use his size very well. With all the tangibles this guy has and when he pieces them all together its a thing of beauty. I have no doubt in my mind he will be competing for Norris trophies very soon. I expect him to have a breakout season next year.

Dang it. I was going to say this.

WJG 08-14-2011 03:11 PM

Hedman and Larsson were both highly touted in their draft year, but I think Karlsson and OEL will have the best careers.

Troy Barnes 08-14-2011 03:12 PM

Hedman
OEL

Renegade Stylings 08-14-2011 04:32 PM

Needs more Klefbom in here.

B Boarding 08-14-2011 04:55 PM

Larsson - The complete package
OEL - Has everything but needs to bulk up
Brodin - Best hockey sense
Hedman - Great tools. But worst hockey sense out of this bunch
E. Karlsson - Super offense, below average defense
Rundblad - Same as Karlsson. Bigger but not as good skater
Ekholm - Great two-way defenseman
Erixon - Great two-way defenseman
Klefbom - High upside, but questionable defense
J. Klingberg - Great offensively, below average defense

JAS 39 Gripen 08-14-2011 04:56 PM

Oel I
