Too lazy to read, but Miami is in deep doo-doo from what I saw tweeted earlier.

RIP Miami Football

Francesa 08-16-2011 06:21 PM

Miami is a disaster. Fans won't show up to their football games, and now this bombshell. Sheesh. Talk about a downfall of a once cocky institution.

This is absolutely hilarious.

Troy McClure 08-16-2011 06:35 PM

Schools busted for cheating = USC, OSU, Miami

Schools not yet busted for cheating = all other schools

Schools innocent of cheating = none

Francesa 08-16-2011 06:38 PM

Actually with the exception of 4 BCS programs, they've all received violations. Which is odd because I can't remember Virginia Tech ever getting a NCAA violation.

(And no, VT is not one of those 4 programs)

What pisses me off the most is that all of this exploded because this stupid little dweeb was all ****hurt that the players "turned thier backs on him" once he lost all his $$.

I just can't believe this is happening all over again.

Next NCAA investigates the location of its own ass. Two hands might not be enough.

Him ratting everyone out is the part that pisses you off the most?

Miami wasn't really doing **** the last 3 or 4 years before the scandal broke. They were already a reeling program that was a has-been. They weren't on the level of USC or Ohio State, they were simply a mediocre team lugging along in the ACC.

It's no big loss if they get decimated. They're a has-been.

I agree with you. The only reason the Dorsey era was a success because the Little East is trash. That team wouldn't have run the table all those years in a different league.

Well hey, like Jesse Ventura once said "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat & its only cheating if you get caught".

Look, I'm not going to deny what this article spells out is really bad, but like others have said, stuff like this happens all over college athletics & only a select few are careless enough to get caught & in this case it was because some 5'5 dweeb in a jail cell is all upset because he assumed a bunch of greedy athletes would help him in his time of need.

OSU really did nothing wrong, it was more of a moral issue than anything. not to rehash an old topic but the players sold their stuff for cash, perhaps they should have waited til after college but it's not like they gained any advantages on the field by doing this.

They ran roughshot over plenty of quality non-conference opponents & annihilated Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. That team was full of players currently in the NFL.

Herby 08-16-2011 07:59 PM

How is anyone surprised by this?

Miami has long almost prided itself on being rebels and thugs, even the name "The U" comes across that way.

OSU didn't get in trouble for players selling stuff. OSU got into trouble for knowing its players were selling stuff, failing to report it, failing to stop it, and lying about it when asked.

Reforms are needed. If only there was time to investigate every program to prove this fact. Anyone who thinks the NCAA is full of clean teams is off their rocker.

:propeller

You could not possibly be more wrong. That 2001 team was the best collection of talent in college football history. They played all kinds of good teams and massacred them. With four ranked teams, the Big East finished tied second in most ranked teams at the end of the season. Not only did they beat three of those four ranked teams (the other being themselves), they slaughtered three others. Only one of their games was a single digit victory. No other college team matches up to that one in my opinion.

In 2002 no conference finished with more than 4 ranked teams and the Big East was one of those leagues. The vaunted SEC was not one of those conferences.

There's also no sense in saying something like "well they were only that good because they cheated," because everyone needs to know, EVERY GOOD TEAM IS CHEATING.

I guess I can see where they are at some fault MINUS stopping it. What are they gunna do? Hold a gun up to their heads? kick them off the team?(Some kids really wouldn't find that to be a big deal)
