TOR
Kiprusoff

3 of Kipper's last 4 season were pretty mediocre (including the last one), unless Kipper can rebound that 1st rounder will likely be a top 10 pick and add to that a goalie that could be the leaf's starter for years to come then that's one heck of a package.

Gary83* 08-18-2011 07:41 AM

Right now Kipper isn't worth a first, let alone a first in the top fifteen of next year's draft, secondly, I don't want Toronto's "chosen one" of the month. Irving and Karlsson will make a good tandem, not to mention Ortio, Calgary can trade or move Kipper without a goalie having to come back, we should be looking for forward prospects unless there's D with top pairing potential.

A1LeafNation 08-18-2011 07:55 AM

The last two goalie trades worked out beautifully for the Leafs...

The traded for Raycroft and gave up Rask.

The traded for Toskala and the picks ended up being Couture.

Yeah, Leafs definitely wont be trading for a goalie anytime soon.

Imagine if Reimer turned out to be another Rask and the 1st turned out to be another Couture because Kiprusoff was a complete bust in TO.

That would be like the last two goalie trades combined.

i can't see kipper being a bust. he had 37 wins last year 3rd highest.
when he dose need a break u still have the monster.

Nizdizzle 08-18-2011 08:10 AM

throw in a time machine and get Kipper about 5 years ago, then we'll talk

Toskala was suppose to be a sure thing when he came to TO.

No deal.

From a Flames fan, Toronto doesn't do this, but the Flames will for sure ;)

Haatley 08-18-2011 08:19 AM

flames say no. reimer is flash in pan

M Moulson Ale 08-18-2011 08:23 AM

The leafs don't do this because if the leafs put Phaneuf and Kippy back together....

T_Cage 08-18-2011 08:27 AM

I don't do either for kipper, let alone both.

Sorry, but no.

If the Flames are that hard-up for a first-round pick, peddle him off (with something/someone who has good value) to a team who is actually desperate for a goalie and doesn't want to keep their 2012 first-rounder.

The Leafs aren't giving up on Reimer nor are they giving away their 2012 first-rounder, especially for someone they neither want nor need. :shakehead

Reimer has shown very good potential thus far in his short NHL career. For that reason alone, the Leafs have absolutely no reason to shove him out the door (let alone with their 2012 first-rounder) just to bring in Kiprusoff who has been fairly mediocre in three of his last four seasons.

Also, the Leafs just don't have enough high-end talent as a team to make it into the play-offs yet and potentially adding Kiprusoff into the mix (at this stage of his career) would do very little to improve the team's current overall talent level and play-off aspirations.

It wasnt Couture. The pick ended up turning out to be Lars Eller. San Jose traded up to get Couture.

Good one. And no to your terrible trade proposal. Just awful.

Kippers win totals are more often a result of playing a lot of games more so than being an excellent goaltender at this point.

Given the salary difference between Reimer and Kipper chances are the LEafs wouldn't swap the two straight up, forget the 1st Rounder as well

ward played 74 and had 37 wins, price played 72 and had 38 wins. most would say that they had grate seasons. not that they won because they played so many games. most teams look for work horses. kipper played 71 and had 37 wins

ShotDownCrosby 08-18-2011 09:13 AM

I couldn`t see Toronto trading a goalie away that has yet to play badly. If Reimer flops this year, I think they`d be looking for a trade possibly, but I couldn`t see them trading a guy who`s given them that much hope.

Kipper 5 years ago means the leafs are adding to that package.

Interesting thought. Don't think Toronto would do it though since Kipper probably only has a few years left.
