Tim Erixon's job to lose in my humble opinion.

Brooklyn Ranger 08-21-2011 08:56 PM

Better make Sauer's percentage 99.9%. I would have voted to split up the pair. I don't like the idea of having two rookies on the bottom pair and I think it would be better to spread the wealth such as it is.

Would've had to be 99.8% then, because I also think we should attempt to split up McDonagh-Sauer due to balance to start the year. Because I believe that Del Zotto will be defenseman #6, it would be very beneficial to have him paired with someone reliable like Sauer -- especially with concerns about his confidence following last year.

Even Strength:
Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Erixon (left-d that is most likely able to move to the right side based on his PP experience at that spot in the SEL, imo)
Del Zotto or Valentenko - Sauer (so long as he's not terrible in camp think it's more likely to be Del Zotto based upon need for a puck mover)
Eminger

1st PP unit:
Richards - Del Zotto (played the right side when he was actually the most successful on the PP -- when he played with Kotalik)

2nd PP unit:
Richards - Erixon (played the right side on the PP with Rundblad in the SEL as more of a "shooter")

*Note: Richards played the full 2 minutes of most PPs in Dallas.

1st PK unit:
Staal - Girardi

2nd PK unit:
McDonagh - Sauer

Erixon slots in on the PK if any of the above 4 are in the box, or need a rest.

Wanna see Erixon and Del Zotto. Would be fine with Erixon/MDZ and Valentenko.

mike14 08-21-2011 09:26 PM

Went with Erixon, but I wanted Sauer with Staal, so what would I know......

Jabroni 08-21-2011 10:02 PM

Tim Erixon.

I think that Tim Erixon and Michael Del Zotto will be a great pair in the future.

Del Zotto can take chances and pinch in the offensive zone and Tim Erixon can cover him.

Vitto79 08-21-2011 10:09 PM

picked DZ. For some reason I think they may have Erixon start in the minors and then call him up later alla McD. Vtank gets 6th spot ,Eminger 7th

Fitzy 08-21-2011 11:34 PM

On a hunch, Del Zotto.

Yeah this is how I see it as well. This is make or break year for DZ as he is due for a contract extension. Due to business and staying loyal to veteran players, Erixon has to play his way onto the roster.

Kane One 08-21-2011 11:40 PM

I don't know if Erixon/Del Zotto shoots right or left, but I just want both of them together. Whichever side they prefer, put them there.

They are both left handed shots.

Don't know if Erixon has a preference but naturally left handers perfer the left side defense position.

Erixon played the left side at even strength, and the right side on the PP in the SEL.

Mint Berry Crunch 08-22-2011 12:54 AM

MDZ with Erixon on the right side, IMO.

CHGoalie27 08-22-2011 01:03 AM

I want me some Erixon/VTank!

Yea and Del Zotto did the same thing IIRC.

n8 08-22-2011 02:20 AM

I really think Vtanks game will work on the RD. He plays that position on the PP I think because of his cannon but of Erixon, MDZ, and Vtank, I think he's probably got the strongest N.A. defensive game among the three so that transition would be the smoothest. his stellar shot blocking shouldn't be affected by which side of the ice he plays on.

The Perfect Paradox 08-22-2011 07:23 AM

I feel that it's Erixon's spot to lose at this point.

Sticky Fingers 08-22-2011 07:50 AM

Tim Erixon, OP write me in!

Wraparounds 08-22-2011 07:59 AM

Del Zotto's spot to lose, actually.

jniklast 08-22-2011 08:01 AM

I want Erixon and DZ on the team. I don't care about the exact pairings or the side for the matter of this poll (I doubt they will be paired together), so it's Erixon first and then DZ for me.

Has Valentenko improved his skating ability? Jim Cerny keeps mentioning Valentenko is a not strong skater. Cerny has his weekly chats on the Rangers site. Nearly every question about Valenteno is followed up with a critique about skatig ability. Needs to improve on his skating if he wants to play in the NHL. Jim Schoenfeld discussed Valentenko lacking "foot speed" when spoke with Andrew Gross last season. Valentenko should have been working with Barb Underhill this summer.

RangerBoy 08-22-2011 10:25 AM

Torts mentioned MDZ needing to be a better pro last week to Stan Fischler. MSG.com posted the article and a few hours later DZ retired from twitter. Torts made the same comments last season when the Rangers sent MDZ down twice. Delly suffered a broken finger which ruined the NYR plans of DZ playing a ton of minutes.

Tim Erixon will be the #5 D. NYR brass feels Erixon is NHL ready. They also felt Ryan McDonagh was NHL ready this time last summer. He was beat out of a spot by Michael Sauer who was waiver eligible. NYR don't have any waiver issues on D this time.

I think any vote here of MDZ, Erixon or Vtank is a good one. It is going to be a battle in camp. Based on top picks Vtank is left out but good thing its not about that

I just would hate to have Vtank go down and not be given a chance to play some NHL games. I am pretty sure he would take off back to the KHL if he cant crack the lineup this yr and that would stink

of course they could package Vtank, Zuke , 2nd rounder at the deadline for a LW. Just a hunch but that's far away

Bardof425* 08-22-2011 01:25 PM

Erixon completely sight unseen. If not, then V-Tank.
