Wow. He put politics before his health.

He was a good man. Didn't agree with his views, but still a hard working man.

Vanek20 08-22-2011 08:26 AM

Very sad day. RIP Jack.

Habs 4 Life 08-22-2011 08:27 AM

Sad news, RIP Mr. Layton

Habs10Habs 08-22-2011 08:31 AM

Sadly when I saw him in July, I knew it was only a matter of time.

RIP Mr Layton, you fought the good fight.

matCH penalty 08-22-2011 08:36 AM

Awful. I had a ton of respect for him. Can this hideous summer end already, please?

The NDP was Jack Layton. The people of Quebec voted for him as their leader more than the NDP as their political Party. He was a very charismatic politician.

RIP Jack

Wow, sad news. R.I.P. Mr. Layton.

roy munson 08-22-2011 09:03 AM

Sad. The only politician I saw as a human being instead of the crook-liar-mafia friendly-vulture that make most of the politic population.

RIP Jack!!

Le Tricolore 08-22-2011 09:07 AM

A politician that people actually liked. RIP Mr. Layton.

Habsbullet 08-22-2011 09:08 AM

This makes me real sad, I'm teary right now. RIP Jack Layton.

Aeneas 08-22-2011 09:22 AM

Horrible news, didnt always agree with NDP but he would have been a great leader and he was one of the few politicians i liked.

RIP Jack

hototogisu 08-22-2011 09:33 AM

If you want to discuss politics, take it to the politics board please. This thread is not the place for that.

Coldplay 08-22-2011 09:46 AM

Rest in peace, Jack. Regardless of whether or not you agreed with his political stance, he was a fighter thick and through.

Always admired his refusal to back down from a challenge, and to stick with what he believed.

Montreal guy, too.

:(

On a side note: Mulcair runs in my riding, and he's pretty popular, I'm betting he's going to be the one to replace him.

Et le But 08-22-2011 09:50 AM

RIP Jack. :(

One of the few good guys in politics. A true fighter.

Gary320 08-22-2011 10:07 AM

I found out about this early in the morning by one of my friends, was very surprised to hear it even though it was evident he was having a hard time. Atleast he got to see all his hard work pay off!

My sympathies.

Coldplay 08-22-2011 10:09 AM

To think that he was "doing well" in a report from 6 days ago.

Ayatollah Chowmeini 08-22-2011 10:11 AM

A massive loss for Canada. Sad, sad, sad.

triplecitizen 08-22-2011 10:26 AM

This is the worst news possible. I will miss you, Uncle Jack.

I remember an analyst saying that Mulcaire not named temporary leader was the sign that Jack wasn't coming back.

'cause you can't run as leader when you are the placeholder, and
If Jack would have really been expected back eventually, Mulcair was probably the best man to oversee the party in his absence.

Iwishihadacup 08-22-2011 10:56 AM

RIP Jack :(
