Earthquake

I'm in Queens and my house was shaking a bit. Am I just imagining things or did others feel this too?

BlueshirtBlitz 08-23-2011 01:58 PM

Nope. It was here in Brooklyn too.

The epicenter is reported to be in Virginia, a 5.8. I've had friends from Toronto to Pittsburgh to North Carolina to Boston reporting feeling it.

JeffMangum 08-23-2011 02:07 PM

Don't/didn't feel it, I'm in Northern Jersey, right on the edge of NYC.

terrrrrible 08-23-2011 02:07 PM

one of our customers in mid-state CT said their building shook, and some places on the southern coast of CT felt it too.

Ih8theislanders 08-23-2011 02:08 PM

Wow really. I'm in Virginia now, didn't feel a thing..but people in New York did.

Barbara Underhill 08-23-2011 02:09 PM

Yeah centered in Virginia, folks from all over have felt it. Only a 5.8 but you would think with how far away people felt it that it was bigger. Pretty wild feeling for you guys I am sure but should be safe.

Edit: Magnitude updated to 6.0

MetalGodAOD* 08-23-2011 02:09 PM

5th story in Manhattan. Felt my chair moving side to side and thought my cat was attacking it. When saw she wasn't thought nothing of it till I saw the news.

Was so minor.

TCRF 08-23-2011 02:15 PM

The higher you are the more you will feel it. For those of you really high up, maybe go out to eat tonight? This may not be over, it could be a foreshock. Not saying it was, but if it is, the worst is yet to come and you definitely don't want to be 32 floors up.
