HF Sharks Top Prospect Polls: 2011 edition - #2

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s1-Doherty.gif

(click a prospect's rank card to be taken to the voting thread for the spot that they earned)

Taylor Doherty captured the top spot in the HFS top prospect rankings by recording 31% of the vote. It's a quick rise for him, as he was ranked 3rd last year, and 17th the year before.

Interestingly, 10 of the 14 listed prospects received at least one vote for the top spot (Only Thomas Greiss, Michael Sgarbossa, Tommy Wingels, and William Wrenn failed to receive votes last round)

The added player for this round is Brandon Mashinter, edged out Konrad Abeltshauser for the spot.

Eligible for addition to future polls and/or the "other" vote option (regardless of how you vote in the poll, pick one to add to the next poll)
Konrad Abeltshauser
Sena Acolatse
Colin Blackwell
Mike Connolly
Chris Crane
Drew Daniels
Justin Daniels
Dylan DeMelo
Cody Ferriero
Max Gaede
Curt Gogol
Thomas Heemskerk
Matt Irwin
Sean Kuraly
James Livingston
Tony Lucia
Cam MacIntyre
Isaac MacLeod
James Marcou
Lee Moffie
Matt Pelech
Brodie Reid
Justin Sefton
Tyson Sexsmith
Daniil Sobchenko

Poll rules:
Eligibility: Prospects are eligible for the polls if they are 25 years of age or younger, have played less than 30 NHL games in their careers to this point, and are not expected to be regular parts of the NHL roster this year. Yes, this means that Thomas Greiss is back on the list after being off last year when he was projected as the backup goaltender prior to the Niemi signing.

1) each poll will have 14 player options, plus an "other" vote. If you vote for "other" you must indicate in a post who you are intending to put forth as your selection for it (and it must be a player found on the future poll eligibility list below).

2) When you vote, you must also post and indicate who you wish to have added to the next poll. The player with the most nominations will be added to the next ranking spot's poll options.

3) Polls will be open for 48 hours. (I've found that during the summer, voting tends to peter out after a couple days, and 90% of the time the voters who miss out in two-day windows aren't usually enough to impact the result)

4) If after 30 votes have been cast, any prospect holds a 20 vote or greater lead on the next closest competitor, the poll will be closed early and the current front-runner will be declared the winner.

5) In the event a poll closes with a tie, a 24 hour tiebreak poll will be opened with only the tied players available as an option.

Voted Braun.

Add MacIntyre.

SJSharks2010 08-29-2011 05:53 PM

Voted Braun, I've changed my mind on the "is he or isn't he" a prospect debate, because he is. Petrecki should be #3 imo.

Also: Add Justin Sefton.

Clowe Me 08-29-2011 06:58 PM

If the Sharks didn't have everyone signed through the next 3 years, the prospect pool would leave me concerned.

Vaasa 08-29-2011 06:59 PM

Same vote as last round: Sateri

Add: Sobchenko

I voted Freddie Hamilton because his brother was so hailed this past draft. We don't really need to have legitimate justification, do we?

StalockSuperfan 08-29-2011 09:23 PM

Sateri. Add Sobchenko.

He hasn't made a name for himself amongst Sharks fans yet but Nieto will soon excite them. He is a big time talent flying under the radar.

Led Zappa 08-29-2011 09:56 PM

I find Stalock having 7 votes to Greiss' 0 very strange considering all the talk about how the Sharks dissed Greiss last year by signing Niemi.

I think most people (including myself) consider Greiss to be a good backup and an average starter (potential wise). A lot of people think Stalock has the potential to be a good to great starter. Thats why.

Personally I'm surprised MacIntyre isn't higher on the list. Our forward prospects are pathetic and MacIntyre is the ONLY one anywhere near the NHL that has any Top-6 potential. He's an injury fest, but skill wise supposedly he's impressive.

False. Nieto has as much if not more than MacIntyre.

time of arrival does not matter in the prospect rankings.

Nighthock 08-29-2011 11:05 PM

wingels? he is like a 4th liner in the future at most. macintrye if he can avoid injury, has top 6 potential. bit off topic, but does anyone else think DW expects macintrye to be 3rd line RW?
