"Tough as nails, he'd lay in front of a train if he had to for the team."

In Biron's Journal, Jim Cerny played word association with Biron and when Jim said "Ryan Callahan", Marty's response was the following:

Quote:

Tough as nails, he'd lay in front of a train if he had to for the team. :yo:
I think this just shows the RESPECT the players have for Callahan. How can he not be the captain. I will be truly disappointed if Richards is awarded the captaincy. Thoughts?

Swept In Seven 08-29-2011 05:54 PM

Another reason for Cally to get the C.

Machinehead 08-29-2011 05:57 PM

I always say that captains aren't chosen, they just happen. All the C does is make it official. Callahan is the captain of this team. It's up to the Rangers to make it official.

Swept In Seven 08-29-2011 05:57 PM

Agreed with Machinehead

Good way of putting it. I can't see how Callahan doesnt get the C anyway.

I can not see Richards getting the C. He is the new guy, and the whole team pretty much agrees that Cally is their leader

FindingNemo 08-29-2011 06:04 PM

I'm a Shark fan and catch the odd Ranger game and i've always had the opinion that Callahan would be a great captain. Heart and soul guy, would kill to have him on the Sharks.

Is it just me, or does that sound more like Girardi?

Both of them block a ton of shots

No, not at all.

If it were about Girardi, it would've been the following:

Quote:

Those eyes are scary as hell, he'd stare a train down for the team if he had to.

To me it does.

Artem Anisimov 08-29-2011 06:18 PM

If Callahan doesn't get the C I think the entire hockey world will be stunned. He will be the captian.

I do think Richards will get an A at some point in the season.

offdacrossbar 08-29-2011 06:27 PM

cally being captain begins to wipe the stink off the c left behind by capt quaalude...

no brainer.

Think about the game when Cooke elbowed AA to the head, and Cooke the ***** refused to answer the bell against Brashear, it was Cally who wound up going with Cooke.

That's a Captain

Prust as well... "it's just pain."

BlueshirtBlitz 08-29-2011 06:56 PM

The great thing is that this is the first time in a long time I read this and don't know who it refers to right away. Cally, Prust, Danny G, a handful of guys it ca refer to. Either way, give Cally his C.

PassShootScore 08-29-2011 07:01 PM

i really want Cally to have the C

i don't want Richards to have a letter at all i want him to worry about how he is playing and not have to worry about the team

Excellent way of putting it. Can't wait to make it official. :yo:

Prust is a guy that I think deserves an A. Only reason he does not have one is because of Staal and Dubi

Totally agree..Prust is underrated. He kills penalties well and always blocks shots..

He is a spark plug. The ultimate energy guy.

Prusty is my favorite Ranger. He won me over pretty quick and has made a big solid impression in his first season here. We fleeced Calgary in that trade by getting rid of Kotalik, but it was extra gravy to get Prust along with him.

I remember reading some articles back where he was matched against Crosby in the Memorial Cup to shut him down, and he did. :)

That being said, I think there are many players deserving of an 'A', but I hope Prust gets a letter on his jersey.

good post...

Machinehead 08-29-2011 09:08 PM

I love Pruster. He's a great fighter who's also extremely productive as a real hockey player in terms of grinding, engery, PKing. I was never a fan of guys who only fight. Prust fights alot but does other things very well. Maybe he's a bit small for an enforcer, but other than that he fits the mold for my ultimate enforcer. He's like enforce-o-tron 9000 or something

Maybe a grinder/enforcer hybrid is the best way to put it? What he brings to the table is unique for sure.
