The Training Camp Thread: Tyrell sent to Norfolk

We've got, what, 10 or 11 days until physicals, this should be fun this year. Anyone going?

Felonious Python 08-31-2011 01:52 PM

I still haven't gotten an invite.

When's the prospect tournament? Can't be far away now can it?

Is Gabriel Desjardins related to Cedrick?

I don't think so. Elite Prospects doesn't have any relation, and Cedrick was born in New Brunswick, while Gabriel was born in Montreal.

Tokala 09-01-2011 09:12 AM

I thik they hit the ice on 9/17. I'm planning on going on Sunday, 9/18. Should be a smaller crowd.

Anyone think Mcabe is worth an invite to camp?

For what he does in this day and age? I think Bergeron fits that tab and since he is already under contract...but there was a time I would not have minded McCabe on the blueline.

garmonbozia 09-06-2011 05:45 PM

I don't think McCabe would come on an invite alone, and I wouldn't be tempted to offer him a contract without seeing how he fits in to our defence first. If Ohlund or Kubina was injured or absent long term I'd be more in favor of this.

Meh...defensive depth is never a bad thing, Boucher likes going 7D...if the dollars made sense...

Sure, sign McCabe

chasespace 09-06-2011 06:47 PM

If McCabe signed a one year for $1million or less I'd be all for it.

Today's the day!

Vasilevski 09-09-2011 06:57 AM

So today starts the training camp? NICE

Wrong Friday.

newham89 09-09-2011 09:14 AM

Rookie camp starts today, not the normal camp

Coach Guy Boucher seeks intensity when Tampa Bay Lightning opens camp. (...)

"My speech to the players will be that everything you do matters," Boucher said. "It matters because we get information to act on them now or a little later or in the long run. There's injuries and all kinds of trades that can happen." (...)

"Play to your strengths," Boucher said is his advice. "You have to make me think you're the best at something so I can make room for you."

Also, Vinny will stick to wearing a visor.

BRANDON For Vinny Lecavalier, the best part of his offseason workout program was it began a few weeks early.

He didn't do anything major, he said, just some extra skating. But given how his past few summers have been more about rehabilitating repaired body parts than preparing for a season, the quick start felt good.

"It was such a relief," the Lightning captain said, "not having to think about healing something."
I'll admit it, I thought he was done. But if he can come back to even a part of what he was, very good things could happen.

Felonious Python 09-16-2011 08:19 AM

The first day of training camp is a lot of procedural stuff (photos, measurements, paperwork, etc.). I wouldn't get too excited about seeing them on the ice a whole lot today.

Maybe my mind is getting off-track, but for tomorrow...

Quote:

9:30 AM – 9:45 AM: Main Locker Room Meeting
9:45 AM – 10:00 AM: Alternate Locker Room Meeting
So they talk to the guys in the dressing room for 15 minutes, get up and move everybody into another dressing room for the same meeting.

Apparently the main dressing room was booked for a wedding reception to start at that time, and the bar mitzvah scheduled for the the alternate dressing room should have already ended by then.

They can't fit everyone in the locker room, so team blue changes in one and team white gets the other. Both groups hit the ice after the meetings.
