Leafs: Take this and run.

Blues: Hang up the phone.

bleedblue1223 09-07-2011 08:35 PM

At least you are creative asking for Berglund and not...oh wait just about every Blues-Leafs thread is you guys asking for Berglund with a horrible package.

YAY!!! You added a 2nd round pick, that changes everything.

to STL:
Schenn + 2012 1st

to TOR:
Berglund

The Note 09-07-2011 08:48 PM

Haven't we been down this road enough times by now?

HooliganX2 09-07-2011 08:56 PM

Blues have no desire to trade berglund. Please stop with the one sided trades. Berglund gets traded for no one on the leafs. Schenn plays right defense no need from a blues point of view with pietrangelo shattenkirk and polak. Kuelmin isnt needed with stewart and backes at least not at the cost of berglund.

Would not be wise to trade those two players when their value is at their lowest.

Blues would also never trade Berglund for crap.

Sorry but Gunnar's value is not low at all. He's a young dman with wonderful potential.

If by wonderful you mean a solid 3 or 4 guy I can agree....he didn't have the season leafs fans expected out of him though. As of now he's a 5 to 7 guy.

Berglund is also not available unless the trade makes the blues better at center......

The Infamous Tank 09-07-2011 10:47 PM

Not enough stupid leafs proposals in a day?

Let's see, a trade that is To TOR (good young roster player, generally a center with #1 potential) for (spare part + spare part + 2nd). Yup, it checks out, it fits the format of a Leaf fan's proposal.

Total garbage.

Really? Why don't you post a Value of : Carl Gunnarsson thread and see what kind of responses you get.

That's like offering Berglund and a 2nd for Schenn. Any takers?

That's not like that at all. We would never do that trade either.

Schenn is a good young Dman, but he doesn't have nearly as much value as Leaf fans like to beleive :

- he is unsigned, so that lowers his value, even as an RFA
- he's a defensive Dman with very little offensive upside. These are much easier to come by in trade or free agency than great 2-way Dmen or great offensive Dmen

Think of Berglund as having similar value to Kulemin.

Would you trade Kulemin for a Bozak, a Gunnarsson and a 2nd? I know I wouldn't

Corporal Komarov 09-08-2011 12:37 AM

Leafs do this right away. Blues do it because they are tired of reading leaf proposals for number 1 centers, so they trade on to end the era.

They'll sign him in a week and his value will be magically restored.

Not even close no Blues fans would trade Berglund strait up for Schenn. Berglund is a 50 point 20 goal scorer that is good defensively. He has the potential to be much more then that. 30 30 or even 35 45 seasons are possible for Berglund.

Actually Gunnarsson started out as a 5 - 7 and was getting more like 3rd and 4th time near the end of the season. He plays better with more responsibility. He's pushed back because of the depth we have. It's unfortunate but that's why we keep including him in deals. He's a viable top 4 option (at least in theory) and has some trade value.

However I agree with Berglund. He's not available. Although if Backes continues to play with Stewart and Oshie plays much like people expect, he could become trade bait but only if the deal he is in is improving the Blues.

Shocker, a Sens fan saying this.

This is probably the largest thing wrong with people's view on Schenn. Scouts never said that when he came into the league, in fact they said that he could have some offensive upside but it was a complete unknown how high he could go. They said it was more likely he would be a top shutdown guy who could get 20 points.

However I point to last season. He started making plays that were indicative of a dman with offensive upside around 30 - 40 points. His rush in Boston which ended up as a goal and many of his assists show that he has more to offer point wise/

Oates2Neely 09-08-2011 09:42 AM

I really dont think Blues would even trade Berglund for Schenn. Never mind Bozak & Gunnarson.
