Got more information about the practices in Prescott (updated in the article). The team will also be signing autographs following these practices.

Dolemite 09-14-2011 05:33 PM

During the time I was at the Ice Den (see the viewing party thread) the Coyotes were holding their final informal practice. About 23 players were there just doing 5 on 5 scrimmaging with Tippett and Anderson watching from 18 Degrees. That's about all.

Just got done with media day. Uploading pix and video from Shane Doan, Jason LaBarbera, Biznasty, and Daymond Langkow

Thanks. Between you and Todd Walsh, you guys keep us small number of people that care informed. We really do appreciate it. :handclap:

Dolemite 09-17-2011 10:45 AM

Added a training camp cheat sheet to the first post of the thread with full team details and order of practicing for the three teams.

The press release said Andre. All the other references say Antoine.

rt 09-17-2011 01:24 PM

Oh yeah, Antoine. I forgot. Oh well, hopefully they get it right in Portland.

kingbrutis 09-17-2011 02:39 PM

How was the first day on the ice? Thoughts?

Le JavJav 09-17-2011 03:12 PM

I gotta say... Viktor Tikhonov looks a lot bigger and faster than the last time I saw him. I was impressed.

Was going tto post the same. Tik wants this bad. Very impressive today.

Also osullivan.......lol. he's so bad

A quick video I took of Andy Miele (21 in white) He draws a penalty and tries the Vrbata move, but misses.

Very happy to hear good things about Tikhonov. I want him to make the team so bad. He always struck me as a great, smart 3rd liner. If he keeps progressing, I think the guy would fit the Tippett system perfectly.

How did Miele look with the big boys? I'd love it if some of you could post videos, that would be awesome.

Tik looking stronger and faster is nothing but positive news. Anyone else stand out?

Le JavJav 09-17-2011 10:08 PM

I thought Miele did great. It seems like he wins just about every face off his in cleanly. He's very good at entering the offensive zone, and from what I saw he never got pushed around. His puck control is awesome.

Just a curious question. You guys seem to have an abundance of NHL ready forwards was there anyone who looked bad and is at risk of getting waived/sent down?

I don't think we are at the point of determining that yet. But there could be a few.

One thing to note about the Coyotes NHL ready forwards. IMO their upside is sketchy at best. But I guess you expect that on potential waiver pickups.

Because of a party at my house last night, I woke up too late and missed team A.

Team B: I was really impressed by Pyatt's play today. He still doesn't use his body as much as most of us would like to, but his shot today was on target most of the time. Usually top shelf. Hanzal had a couple of them that were nice too. Vrbata was typical Vrbata. Tikhonov stood out the most to me though. He was aggressive and faster than the last time we saw him. If he doesn't make this team, its because the roster is full.

Team C: My favorite player of team C? Paul Bissonnette. Had a nice one timer he received from Gordon. Also had a play where he came up the middle and made a nifty pass right on Colin Long's tape, which he one timed in. Speaking of Long, I really like him. He's fast and he has a pretty nice shot.

The defense all day was hard to evaluate. I really liked Gormley though. He stuck to his assignment and did fairly well. Heard Tips encouraging him to push it, and Gormley typically delivered. He WILL be on this team next season for sure.

Good question. I can't recall him scoring a single goal in drills. Got bumped off the puck often by young defensemen. Got destroyed by Dean Arsene...twice. Didn't handle the puck well.

It may have just been first day jitters, but if he does like that again, I don't think Portland would want him.

As for today, I decided not to go so I can sleep in. Its going to be a long week. Sorry guys

AZcoyotes33 09-18-2011 03:55 PM

Havent been able to make it out for camp yet, but how has Mike Smith looked so far?

If he is in Portland all year, O'Sullivan will be top20 in the league in scoring... and could even be top5. Saying Portland would nto want him would take more than a bad practice...(or 20 bad practices considering with he has proven of being capable in games at that level)
