Take it for what it's worth.

He also said the leafs were signing Max Talbot, and he was 100% sure of it.. He should just stick with Basketball, and Football.

The best will be he will say I told you first, but he has no info to go with it. The fact that it's been reported close all day doesn't make it that far fetched either.

Guy is just feeding off other rumors. Trying to "break" the news before it even happens.
With only so many days left before the pre-season begins anyone can make that claim, wait a few days, and look like an insider.

BruinsBtn 09-14-2011 02:20 PM

3-years at around $2.8m is what the Leafs should shoot for. He will still be RFA at the end but it would be a steal in year 3 if he improves. Something close to M. Staal money would be a fail IMO.

He did the same thing with Jagr and the Pens, he was telling everybody he broke the signing, then it totally backfired in his face, when Jagr signed with Philly. Hahaha, I questioned him on it through twitter. 10 minutes later it wouldn't let me view his profile because he blocked me :P. IMO eklund is a lot more entertaining to read.

??????? He will demand 6m easily is you ask me

mcphllp 09-14-2011 02:23 PM

Luke schenn is going to get overpaid. 3 per is the highest he should get.

Why would Marc Staal money be a fail?

Staal signed his $4M (little less) contract after an 8 goal 27 point season playing great defense.

Luke Schenn just completed a 5 goal 22 point season playing great defense.

They are very comparable players, I don't see how it would be a bad thing if their contracts were similar.

not credible
shut this beast down

I'm sure they'll try to get him at that money. Not sure how successful they'll be.........

The highest? Really? I could see him making over 3 million, imo and he would be worth it.

MisterD 09-14-2011 02:29 PM

$3.5M or less per year on a 3 year deal would be a good deal. Anything more I would consider an overpayment.

You evaluate defensemen with offensive stats?

Watch a few Rangers games, Staal is a difference maker every shift.

Schenn doesn't make a difference? he was our best dman last year ...

i'd argue that Schenn is better defensively than Staal ... (very close imo)

Nah, he just took the bait.

BruinsButton was looking to start a Schenn vs. Staal debate. Trolling comes in a variety of ways.

Don't let him be successful.

BLAME CANADA* 09-14-2011 03:27 PM

Don't know how this would be breaking news hahah

Alright Burkey, pay him $5m...

Or rant about how he's a steal when he gets $3m, which is all he's worth.

Or put up a Schenn vs. Staal poll.

You really missed my point there.

Schenn is also a difference maker every shift. Great play in his own zone, one of the best physical threats along the boards in the league, great break out pass.

He and Staal are very comparable. Split hairs all you want about who is better defensively (I'd say Staal right now), but the difference between them is not much.
