Ott - LA

To Ott - Doughty

To LA - Erik Karlsson, Alfredsson

First I hope LA signs Doughty and be done with it but if I hade to trade this is the type of deal Id be looking for. LA gets another young dmen not a frachise but a all star and a former all star forward with tons of leadership. That shuold give enough depth to make a cup run for the next year or two.

For they lose the face of there frachise in Alfredsson but gain a new one in Doughty.

Im sure draft picks and prospects would have to be included and a sign contract.

SensFan26 09-17-2011 11:20 AM

No idea why LA would do this. Doughty is better than Karlsson and Alfredsson has 1, maybe 2 years left in him.

Luck 6 09-17-2011 11:35 AM

Ya LA passes. Its a good basis, but the secondary piece would have to have more gas in the tank than Alf does at this point.

Flat Stanley 09-17-2011 11:35 AM

Yeah, don't know why LA would do this. Alfredsson is close to retirement. Maybe the Kings would consider it if it was Karlsson, Cowen+. Doughty is the face of their franchise, if they need to trade him, it won't be cheap.

Bernier the Boats 09-17-2011 11:48 AM

A basis around Karlsson and Doughty might work, but LA would need another top prospect as well as a competent roster player (Michalek?) to make it work.

It won't be cheap but Cowen doesn't do anything for LA now. If LA had to trade DD it would have to be for something that gives them a chance to win right now and thats the only thing that matters.

Ottawa says no thanks, I not touching Doughty with a ten feet pole, and Karlsson will be better than him anyway and Alfredsson retires as a Sens. :handclap:

SpezDispenser 09-17-2011 11:55 AM

LA wouldn't even respond IMO. Karlsson and Cowen? Yeah, no problem, the Kings still wouldn't bother.

We really wouldn't say no thanks.

KesselLooksLikeRadar* 09-17-2011 11:57 AM

Karlsson, Cowen and Michalek?

Nucks N Canes 09-17-2011 12:26 PM

And Doughty gets overrated some more. It's like people forget what he plays like but have visions of Bobby Orr. Getting Doughty won't make any team a Stanley Cup Contender as well as the fact he's going to be paid 7+ if he comes to your team.

Additionally you will be giving up futures and not exactly have the team you have now. Makes no sense to give up the team your building all for one player.

Just wait til he has a Redden like meltdown when he gets paid the big money. Any player who is in it for the money only first and foremost isn't worth selling the farm + a great roster player.

I mean he is holding out because he wants to be the #1 paid player on his team but he has yet to show he is the #1 player. When kops went down the team collapsed. Williams and Quick were the best players early in the post-season. If doughty had carried his team then he might be paid the big money.

And look at Quick he makes 1.8 million but could easily be paid 4+ with his play. Does he whine and hold out? No he takes it like a man and moves on...

But if Doughty had gotten injured I'm sure LA would of been better off. Therefore Kops should be paid more and is the face of the team.

If by no thanks, you mean hell yes, then I agree. There's no way LA does this.

Reaper45 09-17-2011 12:37 PM

Yeah doesn't even get you to the ballpark with that offer.

Nose of Sutter 09-17-2011 12:49 PM

Spezza and Karlsson for Doughty and Hickey

xking23 09-17-2011 12:51 PM

Only if Alfie asks to be traded to a contender.

Do Make Say Think 09-17-2011 12:52 PM

As much as I love Alfie he's got negative value: large cap hit for someone who has had injury problems recently.

LA says no.

Too much, no thanks.

Nucks N Canes 09-17-2011 01:01 PM

It'd have to be something like Rundblad, Spezza, Karlsson for Doughty and Richards.

Cause LA doesn't need 3 expensive centers...

Shanny 09-17-2011 01:02 PM

Alfie and Karlsson are just too important to the new swedish movement in Ottawa. Doughty would be awesome though, just not at the expense of our Swedish leaders.

Generic User 09-17-2011 01:04 PM

Ottawa would probably have to offer Karlsson + 2012 unprotected 1st to get Lombardi to think more than 30 seconds about it.

Greeningfan14 09-17-2011 01:12 PM

No deal

Valley Boys 09-17-2011 01:32 PM

Value-wise I think it's an interesting proposal. But I don't see how it could help either LA or OTT, let alone both. Taking on an extra $6 million in salary and giving up proven forward assets (of which OTT has few) in order to upgrade Karlsson to Doughty doesn't help the re-build.

Zero chance Lombardi would trade Richards. Too much his type of player.

Gotta admire your optimism... Even if it is delusional.

You really believe Karlsson will be better then Doughty? He's a 4-5, PP specialist on a good team.

You can't be serious...
