Predict what Kiprusoff will be awarded

i hope not, for the flames sake. he's not what i'd consider "proven," yet.

neelynugs 08-18-2004 10:31 PM

i figured he'd get 2-2.5 million on a 1 year deal

Why not? 8 million for 3 years would be reasonable. About 2.7 million a season.

that's reasonable? he played 38 games last year, and while he had a great season...and solid playoffs...it's not enough to boost him up to 3 million. that's the kind of thing that's wrong in today's NHL. granted, it's not as ridiculous as the Theodore\Giguere raise, but it's pretty bad. I'd give him a one year deal for 1.8 million, and say..."we'd love to give you more....earn it this year"

Who has agreed on a 3 year deal? The Flames and Kiprusoff? Or are the Flames seeking a 3 year deal from the arbitrator?

Moskau 08-18-2004 10:51 PM

Too Much.

vega007 08-18-2004 10:59 PM

The Flames and Kiprusoff have agreed on a three year deal

for the sake of hockey, i hope not.

vega007 08-18-2004 11:13 PM

the Flames have offered Kiprusoff a three year deal worth $6.8-million

vega007 08-18-2004 11:14 PM

I copied and pasted that phrase right out of the article. It's from TSN.ca, can't get much more credible than that. Now, don't most 14 year olds have homework to do?

Cloned 08-18-2004 11:14 PM

EDIT: never mind, I posted before I saw the link.

that article is a week old, and it says the flames OFFERED a deal. no deal was reached. in fact, it says that the two sides are "no closer."

40 minutes.

vega007 08-18-2004 11:27 PM

by the way when kiprusoff is awarded a 3 year contract i'll be sure to start a new thread letting you know about it.

you do that. i'll be happy to sticky it.

barrytrotzsneck 08-18-2004 11:46 PM

alright, i don't think i'll have to close this thread, as there most likely won't be any unsubstantiated claims...but let's get it back on topic, eh? :)

detredWINgs 08-18-2004 11:56 PM

Giguere would've been reasonable at 3 million. I don't think anyone can say that Kipprusoff was better or even as good as Giguere was in the playoffs. Theres a reason why Giguere was easily handed the Conne Smythe and Kipper was behind several other players. I would offer Kipper around 2 million...and a cheese pizza.

On the other hand the playoffs were a much shorter span for Giggy to earn his money WHILE Kipper was a ton better than Giggy in the regular season for a longer stretch of games. It foes both ways. personally, Kipper has shown more worth in the stellar regular season and good playoffs than Giggy has done in one stellar playoffs to earn his money.

you're vastly underrating the season giguere had prior to the stanley cup run. he was incredible in the playoffs, but he was pretty amazing in the regular season, as well.

Lobstertainment 08-19-2004 12:53 AM

Kiprusoff will be awarded ...100 BILLION DOLLARS *lightning*

Phanuthier* 08-19-2004 12:54 AM

2.5-3 mill

Frightened Inmate #2 08-19-2004 12:54 AM

I don't think a player can be awarded a three year contract. 1 or 2 with both sides agreeing beforehand.

Oiltalk 08-19-2004 12:56 AM

$4.5 Million just to go around with all of the other ridiculous contracts coming out of arbitration. :shakehead
