Bold Predictions Thread

What are your bold predictions for the year?

Mine:

1. Rinne gets hurt and misses significant time. Lindback comes in and is outstanding which, coupled with a regression from Rinne (1 goalie in the last decade has had back to back 93 SV% years) causes a goalie controversy.

2. At some point this year, Colin Wilson plays in Milwaukee.

3. SK leads the team in points.

Everlong 09-23-2011 12:05 PM

1. Cal O'Reilly centers one of the top two lines to start the year and runs with it.

2. Ellis gets his 10 games in but eventually plays with the Ads. Injury callup.

3. Goalie controversy, I won't have any of that. Rinne wins the Vezina.

ffwrx 09-23-2011 12:07 PM

The Preds will have 2 60 point players.

token grinder 09-23-2011 12:16 PM

i predict an early winning streak that has the boards talking deep playoff run followed by a losing streak that sends the board into negative nancy mode where we call for Poile and or Trotz to be canned. We have two of these, challenge Detroit for the Division and finish either 1st or 4th. Then who knows?

MrJoshua 09-23-2011 12:19 PM

1. Cal O'Reilly leads the team in points with 65 (22G-43A) playing the role of first-line center all year.

2. Blum wins the Calder trophy as the league's top rookie, playing 20 minutes a night on the second pairing.

3. Nashville wins the division, finishing as the second seed in the west behind Vancouver and one point ahead of San Jose.

AtlantaWhaler 09-23-2011 12:22 PM

Bergfors will start strong, only to turn invisible by the end of November and ultimately put on waivers by Christmas. Craig Smith will be his call-up and put up good numbers.

That's not a bold prediction.

It's so clear, I can almost reach out and touch it.

Just like last season, injuries, injuries, injuries. And someone from the Ads plays a key role in March and April.

SavageSteve 09-23-2011 12:57 PM

Nick Spaling 20 goals and 32 assists!!!

PredsV82 09-23-2011 02:10 PM

David Legwand gets the A and finally lives up to his potential, and is named a Selke finalist

(lets see anyone get bolder than that...)

PredsChik 09-23-2011 02:16 PM

Geoffrion overcomes the set back associated with his freak wrist slicing injury to play like a rockstar and is nominated for Calder.

Suter signs with the Preds at a respectible rate for a good number of years before the All Star break and Weber follows Sute. (get it? :) )

CantbeatzPekka 09-23-2011 02:24 PM

Ellis dominates the NHL and puts up a 15g-30a rookie season silencing critics. Maybe becoming a top 4 dman his first season.

I like the Legwand winning the Selke idea mentioned above. Thatd be ****ing awesome.

I Will Son 09-23-2011 02:40 PM

Wilson has a breakout year getting 65 pts.

I like the Ellis and Leggy predictions. Would be awesome

roseyc 09-23-2011 10:32 PM

Martin Erat will be traded at some point in the season.

BigFatCat999 09-23-2011 10:39 PM

Preds make the SCF and Weber's beard will eat a player in the playoffs.

Smith will be the heavy call up for top 6 duty with Mueller as the main bottom 6 call up.

The defensive pairings, below Weber-Suter, will be a revolving door. (Blum-Klein-Ellis-Josi-Hillen-yes, even Sloan.) Ekholm goes to Europe.

Pred offense will be top 15.

(I say all of this because I think Smith and Bergfors will click. The lines On the forecheck made were pretty sexy. And the Preds will have 6-7 million to trade for a forward.)

zellthemedic 09-23-2011 10:50 PM

Craig Smith called up. Starts strong, stays strong then gets injured mid-season for the rest of the season. Bergfors becomes top scorer, just edging Kostitsyn out of the spot. Preds win Lord Stanley over the Islanders.

JamboPred 09-24-2011 09:10 AM

Tootoo has a career year and Chris Mueller will start and stay up with the Preds all year

adsfan 09-24-2011 10:05 AM

Nashville noses out Detroit for the division title.

The Preds win 2 rounds in the SC playoffs.

Blake and Craig Smith play on the same line and roll up over 50 points each.

Spaling and Wilson hit 40 points each.

cleangene 09-24-2011 11:09 AM

After Montreal tanks early and we trade a 2nd rounder, AK joins SK making everything OK for the PREDS.

Adz 09-24-2011 11:23 AM

The Big Three all re-sign with Nashville.
David Legwand shuts up Abaddon.
Sergei Kostitsyn gets 76 points.

barrytrotzsneck 09-24-2011 11:59 AM

David Legwand gets back above the 25 goal mark, and leads the team in points.

Suter is traded for a young, impact forward.

gopreds19 09-24-2011 12:33 PM

Lombardi wins the Masterton.

If so, I hope it's to up here. The only Preds player I want in union blue more is Suter.

(Well, okay. Lindback would be nice too. ;) )

Predictions: Kostitsyn doesn't repeat his shooting percentage from last year but still repeats his point total, Blum finishes second for the Calder Trophy, and a revitalized Tootoo breaks the 20-point barrier - maybe even the 30-point one. Meanwhile, Rinne has a (comparatively) down year, Wilson still doesn't have a breakout year and is traded at the deadline, and Smithson inexplicably becomes injury-prone and misses more than half the season.
