Kings Sign Trent Hunter (1 Year, $600k)

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Trent Hunter to a one-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Seventyx7 09-30-2011 02:29 PM

Not surprising. Probably means the end for old Parsey-boy.

Kingz4life 09-30-2011 02:31 PM

Awesome, he is probably the 3rd line RW'er unless Loktionov and Stoll are on the same line which seems doubtful at the moment.

Telos 09-30-2011 02:33 PM

Very happy about this. He is perfect for that third line right wing slot. That's it for Parse.

DapperDan 09-30-2011 02:34 PM

Expected this all the way. Good news.

CTKingsFan 09-30-2011 02:34 PM

Cool! I thought he earned it! I agree he'll be are 3rd line RW. This probably means the end of Parse.

My guess is Parse will be placed on waivers and assigned to Manchester if nobody claims him.

The Black1963 09-30-2011 02:36 PM

Things are looking better and better for the kings.

Now, Lokti and Voinov both need to make the squad and I think we're good.

Muzzinga 09-30-2011 02:37 PM

yay, see ya Parse

Kingz4life 09-30-2011 02:40 PM

Parse has one last chance tonight, he on the number 1 line with Gagne and Kopitar.

Seems like TM really wants to start the season of with:

Which I love..

Brad Doty 09-30-2011 02:42 PM

Nice. I like this.

Can't wait to hear how Parse plays tonight. Will say a lot about his character.

DAkings20 09-30-2011 02:42 PM

Very happy with this. He's a huge body and adds a scoring touch to the 3rd or 4th line. Great depth move imo and I think Parse just got his ticket out unless I'm missing something else.

DAkings20 09-30-2011 02:50 PM

Hunter will also get PP time as Smyth's net presence replacement.

A better shutdown line would be Moreau-Stoll-Hunter. They could also chip in some offense.

I would rather see Clifford in the fourth line role (energy line), and you could mix and match with Lewis, Richardson, Parse, Loki, and Westgarth, depending on who makes the roster and who we are playing on any given night.

bobafettish* 09-30-2011 02:55 PM

He deserves it.

DapperDan 09-30-2011 02:57 PM

600K. Great deal.

DAkings20 09-30-2011 03:02 PM

Wow great price too!

Knight of the Realm 09-30-2011 03:04 PM

I like the signing, always liked Hunter and I hope he can contribute. I don't mind Parse but I think the injury did him in with LA.

I'd like to see Loktionov on this team but the center spots are just locked down. If he can hang for another year in Manchester/first call up, he'll get Stoll's spot next year no doubt.

Hunter seems to fit that bottom wing role much better.

Gagne Kopitar Williams
Penner Richards Brown
Moreau Stoll Hunter
Clifford Lewis Richardson

JJ Scuds
AMart Greene

Parse and Drewiske => Manchester

Buddy The Elf 09-30-2011 03:11 PM

I hope Parse goes somewhere else and scores 20 goals and all the Monday morning quarterbacks get all ape **** about it. He has had every opportunity find his game in LA and they can't wait around forever hoping he is the next Matt Moulson. Good for him if he is able to figure it out somewhere else.

Stupid Sexy Flanders 09-30-2011 03:12 PM

I guess he wasn't represented by Meehan! <rimshot>

We need him to play well to up his trade value. IMO he's as good as gone, but now auditioning for other teams.

Wow, nice deal. Isn't Parse's cap hit something like 950k? So, if we waive/trade Parse for Hunter, we get a little cap back. Not much, but it's something.

StrongIslanders90 09-30-2011 03:53 PM

When healthy he is a very solid player.....You guys wont love his skating but you will like his size and loyalty to his teamates...And when his wrist shot is on he has a nice release...But the coaches will tell him to "shoot more" until thier blue in the face......Good luck to him and hope it works out for him with you guys

Sydor25 09-30-2011 03:58 PM

Kings have Hunter at a cap hit of $600,000

Devil's cap hit for Hunter's buyout: $666,666 for 4 years.
