Okposo needs to bring back the neard.

Isles Junkie 10-04-2011 01:21 PM

he got made fun of by an opposing player for his beard & the next day it was off.

Speaking of Kyle and Johnny, has anyone noticed that the Islander website lists John Tavares at 206 lbs and Kyle Okposo at 205 lbs?

I find it very hard to believe that Tavares weighs more than Okposo. Okposo's got to have him by 10 lbs. I think they're exagerating John's weight a bit...bwtfdik?

Okposo and him are both liek within an inch or so of height and Tavares plays a power game. Both are so damns strong on the puck. Surprising in the sense Okposo is a power winger by trade, but it makes sense.

Add: Tavares really improved his skating so add a ton of muscle in the legs. The heaviest muscles. Okposo is an all around tank bodily speaking

Good picks.
Frans is worthy also.

Nothing to disagree with here. Wonder when JT will get the "C" though.

Cal Clutterbuck. Which was interesting because his was just as scraggly.

Really? I don't remember that, it's kind of funny. And weird that it got to him and shaved it.

StrongIslanders90 10-04-2011 07:28 PM

I think we will have home and away "A's"

Yeah it was Clutterbuck if I remember correctly.

I remember him doing a shaving motion toward Kyle while in the penalty box.

I think so too... look for Frans and maybe Eaton or MacDonald to get the white As.

OlTimeHockey 10-05-2011 02:36 AM

Can't we just do "normal"?

The letters signify respect. The players earn that respect. Only a Wang team (or the VELCRO KINGS) could be so crass with something like this.

And if JT doesn't get the "C" then I look forward to him being a great player like Bossy and Trottier and many others were. Streit leads. He's a "C". Let's just wait and see who leads when Streit goes. It could be Bailey or Hamonic or, I dunno, Blake Comeau for all we know? The guy in the lockerroom who speaks and everyone shuts up to listen is the guy I want the "C" on. Aside from that, it's 1.5 ounces of fabric that means nothing to my fandom.

I just rewatched parts of that game, the announcers were saying they were yelling at eachother. Very physical game.

According to Michael Russo of the Star Tribune:

Quote:

In the third, after Okposo tried to remove Zidlickyís kidneys, Clutterbuck and Okposo were having an unbelievable barking match from penalty box to penalty box. Then Clutterbuck started gesturing. I thought he was pretending to wipe tears or something. After the game, I asked Clutterbuck what he was doing and he said, "Told him to shave his neck. I told him if he canít grow it on the rest of his face, why try at all?

Katie Strang just posted this on her twitter:

Steve Staios, Brian Rolston, Kyle Okposo and John Tavares receive A's for #Isles
http://twitter.com/#!/KatieStrangESPN

Kind of surprised it was A-mac and Nielsen... Thoughts?

4 A's for #Isles will rotate; two at home, two on road

I'm surprised too, thought for sure A-mac and frans would get a letter.

Not *****ing though, can't really know whether or not this was the right or wrong move (or even if it is of any consequence).

Staios and Rolston will find the refs more receptive than Frans and Andy, which is what we need after last year. Vets get the benefit of the doubt.
