Wonderful Story on a Former Islander

Just shows us once again how big a heart a hockey player can have:

Just wonderful. I always got the impression Josef was a good person. Just really really sad.

Even worse that 4 days after the crash one of the brothers passed away.

Thanks for sharing that story. Good to hear what a great guy Vasicek was.

Great story.

I sincerely believe that hockey players, more than any other pro athletes or celebrities, give back like this, especially to kids, and they do it completely under the radar.

They truly understand how big a difference they can make to kids, particularly the sick ones, and do it selflessly and without seeking any accolades.

Vasicek was clearly one of those guys.

Very sad to lose him so young in such a senseless way. :(

Vasicek was a great guy. I met him a few times when he was here & when I heard about his passing in the crash, I cried...hard. I didn't "know" him, but when u meet people, you can usually tell in that brief moment if they're a good person or not. Vasicek was a GREAT person

Just so many untold stories that come out every year in the press, imagine the ones that have gone untold. Just incredible. RIP JV.
