I don't think that Umberger gets dealt at all... he's our 2nd round pick this year.
I think that with Burke stating that Umberger isn't going to get dealt, it opens the door for him to deal the 1st round pick... this way we still keep the 2nd and it makes sense especially in what should be a weaker draft past the top 10... the Canucks did the same thing a couple years ago when they deal the top pick and got an extra 2nd and picked up Koltsov - who most think was a great pick for a 2nd rounder...
but it should be noted that on the trade table, Umberger's value is that of a mid 2nd round pick - since even if the team that held that pick does sign Umberger as a UFA, they would still retain that pick.
Having said that, I don't think that the value is right here... forget talking about Umberger, is a mid 2nd rounder worth Rucinsky and deVries?? I don't think so.
I doubt the Canucks add a dman like deVries anyways... Burke has already said (several times) that our top 6 when healthy is as good as any the league, and I doubt that adding a $2.8+ mill contract in deVries, so we can have Malik sit in the pressbox does anything for this team... there are much better ways to waste money if that's what the team wants to do.
Rucinsky for that pick IMO is worth it... all depends on what the bidding has become on him... still think there are better options out there (like O'Neill)... although more costly we wont' have to see him walk away in a couple months and left with no 2nd rounder or whatever...
