I watch hockey to see, yes physical play - hard hits, strong checking. But I don't watch hockey to watch fights. I watch it to see those flashes of skill, deftly hands and amazing goals. Game defining saves. Thats why I watch hockey.

And what Bertuzzi did was way out of line. Indeed it was criminal. And if he feels sorry, then thats good. But he should still pay. And if I was a player I wouldn't want another guy on the ice who I know is prone to acts of criminal violence. No matter how sorry he may be afterwards.

Todd should be out of the game for the rest of the season, for the whole of next season and well. At the very least.

You can't have hard hitting and physical play without fighting. You have to get rid of all of it, not just part of it. And once you get rid of all of it, you might as well do away with the sport because nobody will watch it.
