A general rule of thumb that will place the average joes knee at center of a stock pads craddle is to use the inseam measure. From groin to floor in sock feet is your MIN pad size, +2 " over the inseam will place most with a knee shifted to near the bottom of a knee lock but still safe but requires more athleticism.. Anything over that deviation should be considered by adding thigh rise.

I find it annoying when goalies and others have this need to link pad and over all hight together as some kind of determining factor. Its just about the legs and what each individual goalie can be affective in. For instance, my youngest son who is about 5'4" but has an inseam of 31.5 inches. I am 5' 7" and am the same. We will both be wearing 32" with his being custom smiths by their sizeing. Mine are Stock Heaton 6800 pro's
