Tonya & Nancy: WHYYYYYY!!!!

Someone should remind Christine Brennan that nothing helped figure skating more in recent years than a certain act of VIOLENCE(and a judging scandal or two) committed against Nancy Kerrigan in Detroit. After all, attempting to cripple a competitor has NOOOOO place in figure skating.

Excerpt from a March 25, 2003 article by Vicki Michaelis of USA Today, entitled "Figure Skating Losing Its Luster":

"What is clear is that the bubble of interest -- and revenue -- created by Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan and the 1994 knee whacking has burst. It was punctured, some skating insiders say, by a lack of mass-appeal story lines and new faces among U.S. skaters and an oversaturation on TV. It also has been buffeted in the last year by the Salt Lake City Olympic judging scandal."
