So it's okay for the West to be victimized by 2 cinderallas in one year, but it's not okay for the East to have a cinderalla in 2002 (Carolina). The WC dominance of the late 90s is over. Since 2000 The East has as many cups as the West. You can't blame the Presidents' trophy on Cinderellas, and 2 teams in the East's big 3 shared The Jennings last year as well.

The Western Conference has benefited from the fact that EC teams must be designed to beat The Devils to get out of the East, and then must contend with a completely different type of animal in the SCF (Colorado, Detroit or Dallas).

If the WC wins this year it will only because the EC team will be too banged up from battling the other teams in the East for 3 rounds.
