Good luck. That does not sound, or look, fun at all. I have never heard of the meniscus bulging like that. (I'm not a doctor or stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.)
I would suggest going to another doctor to get a second opinion, just in case the other doctor doesn't know what he's doing.
