After signing a pair of prospects on Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks have inked another defenseman, as University of Massachusetts defenseman Nick Kuiper to an undisclosed contract on Tuesday. The contract is likely a three year entry level deal.

Kuiper who stands 6-2 and weights 211-pound defenseman. Kipler finished with 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) and 72 penalty minutes this past season. In his UMass career, he had 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists).

"Ever since I began skating, I wanted to play in the NHL. You play hockey for a chance to play in the NHL," Kuiper stated in a UMass press release. "It hasn't really hit me yet, but this speaks a lot of what UMass has become. To have two players sign contracts on the same day says a lot about our program here. This never would have happened if the program wasn't successful, and it just shows that all the hard work the players and coaching staff puts has paid off. UMass has really prepared me to play at the next level and I am excited to have signed a deal. The Blackhawks have a lot of young players with character and I hope that I can fill the role of what they are looking for."

Since the Blackhawks haven't announced this signing, it is unclear whether or not Kuiper will spend time with the Blackhawks this season, but since he is ineligible to join the Admirals except for practicing, chances are pretty good that he could see some game action in the final games of this season.
