Flyers assistant coach Terry Murray said both will be impact players in the NHL. Murray watched both players in Flyers' camp last fall, and last season took time to watch them play a game against each other in Toronto.

"Carter is going to be a real top-end player, probably a [first-, second-line] player who has tremendous offensive ability, skating ability, size. He's going to be a treat with his own puck skills on the attack or he's going to be able to make a quality play.

"Same with Richards. Richards, when you see him in competition, his character really comes out. He's got the work ethic and incredible puck skills. When I saw them, they were playing against each other and Richards was the best player on the ice."
