Mason in net tonight.

“I don’t question Chris Mason,” Trotz said. “He has worked at his craft to become a consistent goaltender, and he has tremendous character. If you want to describe what hockey player’s intangibles should be – the competitiveness, the enthusiasm, the work ethic, all those things that make the substance of a player – he has all of those.

“… Even when I have pulled him or he hasn’t played the last two games, I believe he trusts that I don’t have any doubts about what he is capable of doing or doubts that he is our No. 1 goaltender. I think that’s important.”

Kind of surprised that Trotz came out this strong in support of Mason at this point, to be honest with you, with Trotz under the gun and all...
