I was having the same elbow problem and I realized that I was aggravating it with the way I was lifting my hockey bag !
I now take care to lift my bag properly & not strain my elbow.
Don;t just use your forearms & elbow to lift your bag onto your shoulder.
If your bag has wheels, dont drag it up the staris pulling on the handle - lift the bag onto your shoulder.
Since I started taking care how I lifted my bag, my elbow pains have gone done considerably.
