When an opposing skater has the puck, keep between him and your net.

Reduce the distance between him and you so that he cannot get a good shot off.

Work on your lateral mobility so that you are not a pylon.

As said above, keep your eyes on his core (stomach, chest). Don't let the hands or head fool you.

Stay calm.

Clear the puck into an area where there is less danger.
