Ads affiliation...

I went to see the Ads in Quad Cities (Davenport and Bettendorf (IA), Rock Island and Moline (IL) last night. We lost in the shootout 3 - 2. I actually had business there. Took the Missus. Myself and one other guy had the old style jerseys. We both
agreed that the 'new' style would probably lead to us getting mauled! The fans in QC are pretty raucus. The old Quad City Mallards of the UHL were fairly popular. The attendance was around 3,100 or so.
At any rate, Milwaukee has had hockey of some sort since the mid - 1970s. I think that we have been with you guys since you guys came in (?). If we lost your affiliation, we would just get another. The ownership group has a former director on the Brewers (current President of the Ads Jon Greenburg), Ben Sheets, and some other heavy hitters. We actually are averaging over 4,000, and on a weekend we can get 6,000. For the three concerts they host after games, they will sell out at 17,000 or get pretty close.
I would wonder how well an affiliate would get support $ wise closer to Nashville. It also would depend on the AHL, and who they would award one of the two 'dormant' franchises to.
The Amerks and Sabres thing is deeper, and goes back some years. You have to follow two threads on that, fans that feel that the Sabres don't supply a productive product to Rochester, and want to bail out (as they remember the years that the AHL and the IHL were kind of 'real' minor leagues, as opposed to totally developmental squads to supply NHL call ups all the time) and go to a club that will 'promise to field a competitive squad' on the AHL.
I think they are dreaming, personally.
And, there are fans that look at the history of the two teams, and remember when Rochester was the farm club of the Bruins (true) and they hated the Bruins, but have always loved the Sabres as they are only 50 miles east on the I-90. Lindy Ruff actually floated down to like all the Amerks games and some practices during the lockout to help mentor the kids down there...
At any rate, I would hope not to lose the Preds. Lots of Preds jerseys at the Ads games all over! It is also nice to watch you guys on the Centre Ice and remember seeing them here for one or two years...
