Your description makes it sound like the draw happened, then one of your opponent's players shot the puck down the ice. That's clearly icing and should be called as such.
That's how I read it and I agree with the assessment.
Somewhat off-topic and something that not many players I've officiated know, is that blocked shots are not icing if the puck goes all the way down the ice.
