How exactly did we "give away" our 2nd rounder?

The one thing this organization was lacking was a big top line scoring threat, and Gainey went out and got the best offensive threat on the market for a decent prospect who didnít fit in our plans and a 2nd rounder in a weak draft.

Gainey could have sat around and done nothing, and let some other Eastern Conference team pick up Kovalev for a great price and leave us with Dagenais as a regular top 6 winger on our team. It was a gamble since Kovalev had been underachieving this season with the Rangers, but the ability to make those kinds of gambles is what makes Gainey such a great general manager.

I donít understand how people will cry over a lost pick, but start threads 6 months after the draft wondering why we did not draft so in so rather than the player our organization felt was the BPA; and that the player we drafted is a bust without ever having seen him play.
