Not too many goalies would have stopped Bondra's shot, it went on the blocker side of Esche, off the post and in. Right now Esche has lost his confidence, he's fighting the puck big time and maybe the pressure is getting to him. I think Hitchcock might pull a Scotty Bowman and start Burke in game one, the same way Bowman started Mike Vernon in '97 after letting Osgood have most of the starts in the regular season. Hitchcock loves veterans and Burke knows it's his last kick at the can to win anything so if he can't get motivated for that he doesn't deserve to be in the NHL. Although, if Hitchcock starts Esche in game one, if he keeps playing like he has been, Hitchcock won't wait long to change goalies.
