I know that Patrick Elias took part in a game on some of this stuff while back home in Czech during the summer.
I don't know what they used but he said it was pretty darn close to real ice.

I've looked into all of this stuff and believe it or not, buying an artificial ice kit from Custom Rinks is about the same price.

Sure, you can't skate on it year round and it costs money to run the refrigerator units, but it's real ice.

I actually plan on owning one of these rinks before I die. I'm going to find a nice peice of property, build a steel barn and put in a 90x50 rink complete with boards.
I'll subsidize the electric bill costs by renting it out.
I'm also planning on starting a program for kids/parents that can't afford minor league hockey.

Of course, I'll probably be in my 60's when I can finally afford it, but it's a dream of mine.
