I had my doubts about Kovalev as well, but he clicks with Koivu and you can't ignore that. We have to keep Koivu happy too, he's never had a winger before and now we're going to take him away? I think he should be signed to a 3 year deal loaded with incentives. I think Kovalev could return to 40-goal form with Koivu no problem.

I'd let all the veterans we have walk and pick up a free agent winger and sign him to a short-term deal. Someone like Glen Murray would be perfect on the left side of Koivu and Kovalev or on Ribs's line. Murray is very dangerous around the net and he'd likely put up huge numbers as well with Koivu and Kovy.
