Yeah, but that's my point: he can do that, but only infrequently. And can he consistently turn that "beast-like effort" into goals? He just doesn't seem to be able to bring it frequently enough to be a first liner. So maybe his best role is a 3rd line defensive specialist. Besides, when defending a lead, you want a player that can keep the puck in the offensive zone, down low.
