Dallas offered a goalie. We did not. The goalie is widely believed to be the deal maker.

Howson made serious offers. But you can't give an orange to a guy who wants an apple. I'd imagine it would have taken a big overpayment for Howson to force Tampa to forget they wanted a goalie.

As for wasting time....It's clear from comments that Howson had other things on the table. I'd expect the Marleau issue to be revisited this summer, unless we can target someone better (Jokinen).
