This year's draft is, of course, important as all drafts are. But you could argue that next year's draft, depending on the labor situation, is even more important. If Sather stays the course with the rebuild, and if the fans can stomach a 50 point season, then you're looking at a top 3 pick (Crosby?) in '05.

If this is a true rebuild, it won't start and end with this season. It will take some time and things will get worse before they get better.
