Like I said, he does it a lot. I know he does it to "defend his crease,' but I don't believe that he should be doing it, especially bringing the stick up so high. Generally he puts it up early so the forechecker can see it and move out of the way, like a lot of goalies do, but it's not like it's an exact science or anything. I actually don't think he was very close to catching Smithson, it was there, but I don't think it was all that close. Nabokov also doesn't like Nashville, because they did run him in previous games, so he may lift his stick higher and bring it up later against them as compared to any other team in the league.
