A lot of GM's were reported to have no idea Huet was available, which leads me to believe it was a panic move more than anything. It has worked out great so far, but its a trade that could impact our success this playoff year.
This wasn't a panic move. He just wanted to get rid of Huet and Gainey has a history of dealing with Washington. May I remind you that Bryzgalov, a very good goalie, was put on waivers because no one wanted to pay much for him? Gainey's goal was probably to trade Huet to make cap space for Hossa, and if it didn't work out (Hossa), at least have something in return and be able to move on with Price. If it was truly a panic move, explain to me howcome it was done 5 hours before the deadline was up?
