Open & Closed Curves

I tend to roof my slap shots. From the point I tend to always hit the top of the net, which is great sometimes, but I can't shoot low (which is what you want for deflections). No matter how hard I try, I still keep shooting high. I figure part of this has to do with form, but right now I use a Kovalev curve which is an open heel.

Now my question is, first would a closed curve help this? Second, why are there so few closed heel curves out there? I found a couple and of course they are out of stock, but it's so rare it seems to find them. Anyone got any advice?
