Which makes absolute sense, when put that way, Darth. For, frankly, it would be kind of going in circles, trading for young unprovens when you gave up solid, young, albeit unproven, talent to acquire Peca just three summers ago.
This all highlights a nagging problem with NYI that comes up every time NYI trade ideas are brought up. Reading these boards, seems to me that, with notable exceptions, fans of most teams have a
of where their team is headed from a player procurement standpoint, and it
is in line with fans' thinking.
Not so with NYI. Given the "middling" nature of the current roster, fans differ greatly as to whether this team should "move forward" aggressively (spend more on established talent), take a step back and rebuild on the fly, or, in some extreme cases, rebuild totally. Meanwhile, management talks of "staying the course," and adhering to strict budget, but the results simply are not there to suggest much/any progress.
Hence, we can't ever find any agreement whatsoever on potential moves. :lol
Not suggesting that fans of other teams are all in lock step on these things, but this friendly, yet pronounced disagreement among NYI fans is symbolic of the utter lack of sound strategic direction in the front office, IMO.
