A couple things.

1) Why would Kolzig take a first and a minor prospect himself? Because Cechmanek got a 2nd? Because Osgood got Justin Papineau and an upgrade from a mid 3rd to a late 2nd? With Belfour and Hasek among many others set to hit the open market this summer, why would any team give up a first round pick and a minor prospect (let alone Jason Spezza) at this point...for Kolzig.

2) I have been Brooks Laich's biggest supporter since he was 18. I've watched him develop from an unknown into a quality prospect for the last three years. Read my posts, I was quite dissapointed we dealt him for Bondra. But, if you think Laich can be or ever will be as good as Spezza, you are sorely mistaken. And if you thought that, you wouldn't be dealing him as essentially a throw-in for Spezza. Furthermore, if John Muckler shared your opinion, I highly doubt he would have dealt Laich for Bondra.
