Why not? It's definitely a part of it. If the opposing team is afraid to go into the corners and into high-traffic areas because they'll get hit, it makes things an awful lot easier. The Flyers don't seem to have a problem with doing those things: as for the Habs, well, check out the GDT and the many, many instances of the term "dump and watch" being used to describe their attack.

Bottom line: any player or team that plays physical gets the "dirty" reputation, because you have to toe the line in order to intimidate.
